Ninja Recognition: Gail Benedict

Why Gail?

Gail is our next Ninja Recognition, and it couldn’t be more deserved. Since joining us in the fall of 2021, Gail has been a consistent and dedicated presence in the gym. Lately, her hard work has really stood out—she’s been putting in focused effort to build both her endurance and strength, and it’s clearly paying off in her performance.

What’s even more impressive is how she’s taken things a step further by dialing in her nutrition, allowing all that work in the gym to truly show. Gail is always willing to learn, takes coaching to heart, and shows up ready to put in the effort every single time.

Beyond her progress, Gail brings an energy that makes the gym better. She’s always got a smile on her face, supports those around her, and is a great example of what consistency and a positive attitude can do. We’re proud to have her as part of our community.

Your CrossFit Story: How and when did you get started?

I started at 8 mile 4.5 years ago (!!!) in the fall of 2021, Shelbie and I came together because we wanted to try something new and liked the idea of group classes

Why do you continue to do CrossFit?

Because of the community! I love the variety of workouts too, and the fact that I don't have to plan or think about what I'm going to do when I get to the gym and I love the challenge, but truthfully the community is what keeps me coming back.  If I miss a few days, I can always count on a text from one of my gym friends to keep me accountable.

Favorite movements?

Squats, wall walks, rowing, Ellie's sunday morning games

Least favorite movements?

Wall balls!

Goals:

One of the things I love about 8 mile is continuing to improve and do things I never thought I could do.  I'm working towards completing my first triathlon this summer and another half marathon in October, and hopefully partnering with my daughter for a Hyrox in the coming year!
